HGV Technician Apprenticeships

We’re offering an apprenticeship to become a Level 3 HGV Technician, combining four days working with Econ Engineering on servicing and maintaining our winter maintenance vehicles, and one day studying at Darlington College.

You’ll gain hands-on experience in routine maintenance, repairs, fault diagnosis, and breakdown assistance while completing practical tasks and exams to develop your skills in heavy vehicle service and maintenance.

Welding Apprenticeships

We’re offering a Level 3 Welder/Metal Fabricator apprenticeship, where you’ll work four days a week at Econ Engineering and study one day a week at Darlington College.

You’ll gain hands-on experience in manufacturing our gritter and tipper bodies, learning to read engineering drawings, measure and plate components, MIG weld parts, and finish them to quality standards, while completing practical tasks and exams.

Machining Technician Apprenticeships

We’re offering the opportunity to do an apprenticeship as a Machining Technician. Working four days a week at Econ and studying one day a week at Middlesbrough College, you’ll develop the skills needed to machine components for our industry-leading vehicle range. From understanding engineering drawings to operating and eventually programming CNC machinery, this apprenticeship gives you real, practical experience in a well-established engineering environment.
