Working for Econ

Elton Gomes is an Econ Laser Operative

Elton Gomes - Laser Operative

Production Operatives

I joined Econ with limited experience in manufacturing, but my strong work ethic and energy secured me a role within the 1st line production team. My attention to detail and ability to work as part of a busy team got me a progression from the Linshen finishing machine to the Byrostar laser machine operation. My outputs form the backbone of all builds in the factory, so the careful and accurate interpretation of work schedules, choosing the right materials and ability to communicate with other departments are key to success in this role.

As a qualified machinist within this team, you will be responsible for forming the core vehicle components, so experience in a similar precision industry and working to tight tolerances under pressure is imperative.

Hire & Service

I joined from school and have now completed a rigorous two year programme of ‘on the job’ training.  Working as part of the service team, I work alongside the mechanical engineers and am responsible for maintaining and repairing the Econ fleet. My daily routine includes checking the work sheets and liaising with the mechanical engineers to schedule my tasks to coincide with particular vehicle pit times. As part of the service team, you need to be good communicator, have a systematic approach to problem solving and enjoy working as part of a team.

Senior Electrical Engineers will be qualified in Electrical Engineer (ONC or above / full technical apprenticeship). And have a proven track record as an Electrical Engineer working in an engineering/manufacturing environment.

Design & Product Development

I joined Econ in 2019, after graduating with a BA Hons in Design & Engineering, but had worked during Summer since he was 14, learning about the business in other parts of the factory, but I  wanted to specialise in Design.  I am currently working in the Mechanical Design Team developing new features and products. Excellent CAD design, problem-solving and great communication skills are needed in a role that interacts with the factory teams and customers to interpret their requirements.

As an experienced Designer, you would be expected to have at least 2 years’ experience in CAD design and product development for a mechanical based product. You should be adept at creating or redesigning technical drawings for the manufacturing industry and have some experience in Design Project Management.

Customer Accounts

I have been at Econ for 3 years and joined as an Accounts Assistant. After leaving college with a general business qualification, I have had many years’ experience of admin roles working for the Armed Forces in Germany and various privately owned companies in the UK.  My role at Econ is varied and includes credit control, stop lists, purchase ledger and payroll for the 200+ weekly paid employees.  I often work under pressure to tight deadlines, so following procedure, a willingness to step in and support other team members and being flexible with your working hours to support a shift pattern are required.

To be part of the busy Accounts Team at Econ, you will need to have obviously need to be good with numbers and possess a great attention to detail. A knowledge of payroll and accounts are pre-requisites together with the tact and diplomacy for dealing with colleagues and interpretation of guidance for HR.
